The United States Coast Guard’s responsibilities include maritime security, search and resue, and acts as the law enforcement service branch for the United States Armed Forces. Created by the U.S. Congress on August 4th, 1790, the USCG is the oldest continuous seagoing service of the United States. It operates under the US Department of Homeland Security and maintains an extensive fleet of boats and aircraft. The United States Coast Guard’s motto is “Semper Paratus” (meaning always ready).
